Metalnewsnet 6 Apr : Confronted with the dual pressure of market and cost, Baosteel Group Xinjiang Bayi Steel Co actively explores innovative sales mode and pushes the market share to grow continuously with the marketing concept of mobile steel product supermarket. Last year, the product sales grew by 8.3%YoY production and sales ratio was 100%, and the profit grew by nearly one fold YoY. The sales of January and February this year is up to 754,300 tonnes representing a YoY growth of 10%.
Last year, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region increased the investment in infrastructure construction, which involves the sectors of traffic, railway, civil aviation, irrigation works, agricultural facilities, electromechanical and wind power, etc. Impacted by the international financial crisis, the northwestern areas become the contending arena of many steelmakers due to geographic and cost reasons. In face of the fierce competition in the marketplace, Bayi Steel tactfully played the cards of cost advantages and product differentiation.
Since the beginning of last year, the sales personnel of all levels went down to the sites to care for the key project construction of the autonomous region. Stimulated by the autonomous region policy of increasing local input, Bayi steel successively got the orders of Turpan greenhouse canopy, renovation of the old urban area of Kashi, construction of the school building of Aletai area and construction of Xinjiang traffic facilities etc.
In the third quarter last year, stimulated by the central government's relevant economy stimulating plans and industrial adjustment & revival planning, the domestic demand for steel kept rebounding, and Bayi Steel clutched at the opportunity to put forward the marketing concept of mobile steel product supermarket. Any product needed by the customer as long as it can be produced by Bayi Steel, can be supplied completely in any sales outlet. Bayi Steel actively plays the role of mobile steel product supermarket and timely supplies various steel products according to different time interval and locations, which greatly closes the link between site and market and conveniences the customer.
Last year, all the steel for 15 railways newly built or under construction and many road construction projects of the autonomous region were products of Bayi steel. In the construction of Wuchang thoroughfare project, Bayi steel rapidly and correctly ensured the supply for 16,800 tonnes covering over 20 varieties. In the meantime, Bayi Steel development and production of new products also create favorable conditions for expanding the sales channel and improving the sales performance.
Last year, Bayi Steel totally developed and produced 1.1 million tons of new products for X series pipeline steel, low alloyed high strength constructional steel, automotive steel, petroleum steel, wind power steel and steel plate for high strength coal machinery, which increases the sales variety of mobile supermarket and achieves remarkable economic benefit.
