Metalnewsnet 13 May : Mr Virbhadra Singh union minister of steel said that Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has the potential to become a world class steel producer and it is contributing to the all round development of the region without disturbing the ecology.
Mr Virbhadra while speaking at a function at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Monday after dedicating to the nation the plant's fourth coke oven battery constructed at a cost of INR 360 crore said that the issue of captive mines for VSP and rehabilitation of displaced persons would be considered ‘genuinely' and a decision would be taken after examining the issues.
The VSP was functioning excellently on all parameters and it had bagged the Steel Minister's Trophy for the year 2006-07.
Mr A Saipratap union minister of state for steel that the construction of the fourth coke oven battery marked a critical step in the expansion project of VSP. He said the issue of captive mines and others were under the consideration of Steel Ministry.
