Metalnewsnet 12 Apr : It is reported that in 2009 Heilongjiang Province based Chinese steel producer Xilin Iron and Steel Group made savings of CNY 55.87 million due to its increased emphasis on recycling, greater efficiency and cost reduction, exceeding its target of CNY 40 million.
In 2009, at its main site the steelmaker comprehensive energy consumption was 611.3 kilogram of standard coal per metric ton of steel produced, down 2.4 kilogram per tonne YoY. Water consumption per tonne of steel produced was 6 tonne down 5.95 tonne YoY.
Recycled steam from 120 tonne converters amounted to 87,000 tonne, while recovery of basic oxygen furnace gas came to 1,093 cubic meters. The total power generated via recycling was 13,463 kWh. Meanwhile, the qualification rate of billets produced reached 99.928%.
