It is reported that Baoji Petroleum Steel Pipe Inc, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new project which will produce high end pipes for the petroleum sector. The project site is located in Jinghe Industrial Park at Gaoling County in Xi'an city, Shanxi on a total area of 4.13 hectares.

The project is planned to be carried out in two stages. The first stage is to be put into production in October 2011. The construction of four production lines and some supporting facilities are to be completed during the first stage. The second stage, which will involve the construction of five production lines will be finished by June 2012.

The total investment in the project in question will be CNY 1.9 billion. After the two stages are finished, 300,000 tonnes of high end line pipes for the petroleum sector will be produced annually with total sales revenue reaching CNY 2.2 billion per year.
