The Australian Financial Review reported that China Shenhua Energy Co, the country largest coal producer is considering setting up a coal fired power plant at New South Wales in Australia.

According to the report, the Chinese coal producer intends to build the power plant close to the Gunnedah basin, where China Shenhua plans to start the coal mining operation.

Mr Wang Jinli vice president of China Shenhua said that the power plant will directly transform the local coal resource into power energy instead of delivery of export. However, the company still needs to observe the situation of Australia's energy reform.
