Baosteel Co Ltd UOE production line has successfully trial produced UOE pipe with the diameter of 76230.2 mm and the 76231.8 mm so as to become the first domestic steel corporate to produce deep sea bed pipeline of this specification recently. Therefore, strong support has been made to the deep sea exploration projects.

Compared to terra pipe, ocean pipe works with low temperature, high pressure and strong corrosion. Therefore, strict requirements are placed upon the strength and tenacity, compressive property and dimensional accuracy of the pipeline. UOE pipes with the diameter of 76231.8 mm and 76230.2 mm which is special for deep sea NG exploration project are difficult to manufacture with strict requirement on the equipment capacity and raw material quality. Previously, no trial production has been made but import.

Last April, Nanhai Ocean deep sea NG exploration project preparation team from CNOOC sent to Baosteel the inquiry of trial-production of deep sea-bed pipeline of this project after comprehensive evaluation and analysis, Baosteel decided to trial produce the welded pipe of this specification.

Baosteel has organized a technical breakthrough team to proceed with steel making elements, thick plate production process and UOE welded pipe formation, welding, expansion process design. The team has pulled through difficulties of high requirements on steel making purity, slab quality control, etc so as to guarantee the quality of the welded pipe trial production.

After inspection by authoritative evaluation organization, the trial products of sea bed pipeline of this specification are thought of excellent performance, good welding tenacity, favorable pipe dimension low and uniform residual stress, strong ant squeezing, conforming to the requirement of sea-bed pipeline and enjoying volume production capacity.
