Indian domestic passenger car sales jumped by 39.48% to 143,976 units in April 2010 from 103,227 units in the corresponding month last year.

According to the figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers motorcycle sales during the month was also up by 16.67 % to 656,119 units from 562,349 units in the same month last year.

Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said that the total two wheeler sales grew by 22.06 % to 855,670 units from 7,00,987 units and commercial vehicle sales jumped by 64.49 % to 49,086 units from 29,842 units.

It is also added that the total sales of vehicles across categories increased 25.24 % to 1,120,081 units in April this year from 894,380 units in the same month last year.
