National Business Daily reported that the Chinese pipe manufacturers are in faced of heavier pressure on the news that the US International Trade Commission ruled recently that Chinese Companies hurt American firms by selling oil well pipes at unfairly low prices which suggests Chinese manufacturers will face antidumping tariffs of up to 99.14%.

A pipe mill based in Wuxi told the paper that its export to US has been substantially affected since 2008 when the country started to investigate into Chinese pipe export.

As per a large steel group in South China "We have shift to other markets two or three years ago and are gradually reducing export to the US."

According to CISA statistics, seamless pipe export to the US by its member steelmakers plunged to 406,400 tonnes in 2009 from the previous year's 2.292 million tonnes with the value also decreasing from USD 3.357 billion to USD 0.659 billion.

Steel analyst said in the first quarter of this year, China seamless pipe export to US was 38,000 tonnes in contrast with 277,700 tonnes and 222,900 tonnes in the same period of 2009 and 2008. And it's due to execution of 2008 contracts that the export volume did not drop widely in Q1 2009.
