13 May : BaoSteel and Shanghai Hitachi set up lab

China Knowledge reported that Baoshan Iron & Steel Co Ltd has joined hands with Shanghai Hitachi Electrical Appliances Co Ltd to set up a laboratory to research and develop silicon steel and air conditioner compressors.

The new lab is expected to increase the rate at which new products are developed and improved. It will also allow the companies to share technology easily.

The lab will initially focus on six cooperative research projects that cover research and development of new products, cost reduction and environmental protection.
