Metalnewsnet 31 Mar:

China's zinc imports may decrease 58.5% year on year to 278,000 tons in 2010, due to an oversupply in the zinc market, according to statistics revealed at the International Lead & Zinc Industrial Summit.

The country's zinc output is expected to rise to 5.18 million tons in 2010, compared with 4.36 million tons in 2009, according to the report.

The nation's zinc consumption is expected to reach 4.69 million tons this year, up from 4.25 million tons in 2008.

Last year, China imported 803,000 tons of unwrought zinc, including 670,000 tons of refined zinc, 265% more than in the previous year.
